School Board
recognizes teachers

Teachers in the St. Tammany Parish Public Schools System who recently became National Board Certified were introduced to the School Board Thursday night.

Patricia Picone has taught 11 years in St. Tammany Parish and is now in her tenth year at Mandeville Junior High. She is national board certified in English language arts/ adolescence and young adulthood. She is also a specialist in education in educational technology and author on a book published last year on technology use in the schools.

Cindy Mendow is national board certified in the area of library/media specialist. She began teaching first grade at Lee Road Junior High in 1981, taught at Abita Elementary School for 12 years, then moved to Madisonville Junior High eight years ago. She has obtained certifications in elementary education, mild/moderate special education and school librarian. Other newly national board certified teachers who were not able to attend the meeting are Erin Vicari, Mo0nique McNab and Melinda Boteler.

Patricia Picone and Cindy Mendow were recognized at the St. Tammany Parish School Board meeting Thursday night for obtaining their national board certifications.
