Robin Mullet, St. Tammany School Board representative for District 9, will keep her position for another four years. Kathryne Delcarpio, her opponent, withdrew earlier this week, assuring her of a full term.

Mullet replaced Mike Gambrell in the seat, who had replaced veteran member Carmen Johnson who resigned due to scheduling conflicts with a new job.

District 9 encompasses the school of Clearwood Junior High and Whispering Forest Elementary. It contains precincts 801, 802, 803, 804, S-01, S-02 and S-05.

Mullet was excited and looking forward to serving a new term in office and helping the students in her area.

A candidate forum sponsored by the Alliance for Good Government will be held at the C. J. Schoen Administrative Complex next week at 321 N. Theard in Covington.

Wednesday’s forum will include candidates and incumbents for Districts 2,6,7 and 8. Thursday’s forum will be for districts 10 and 15.

Candidates will be asked to give a one to two minute introduction followed by a round robin question and answer session conducted by one of the executive members.

The questions may or may not be the same for each candidate.

Each candidate will then be given a two minute closing in which they will be allowed to address any matters that concern them and respond to those questions asked of their opponents but not of them. After the completion of all forums, the chapter will recess into executive session for deliberations.

Endorsement decisions will be made after the conclusion of deliberations. Through the endorsement process, the Alliance seeks to inform and assist the electorate in electing public officials with integrity to serve all factions of the community.

The questions will concern educational issues that would be of interest to a School Board member and are created by the Alliance membership. The question bank is strictly confidential. No questions from the floor will be accepted.
